Educational
Format Formats for training events and experiences in
WLI Northeast flexible. Each format is designed and
adapted to meet specific needs in specific circumstances. These may
differ considerably from nation to nation, culture to culture, and
on different levels of the socio-economic spectrum. The Leadership
Institute has no residential students or residence requirements for
diplomas, because it is presumed that each student is actively
engaged in ministry or the marketplace. WLI classroom courses take
the form of seminars ordinarily taught over 2 days with 10 contact
hours.
Grading Since academic
attainment is not a component of WLI Northeast units, no grades are
given for courses, events, or training experiences. There are no
exams. Field research, apprenticeship, mentoring, and ministry
experience are deemed as valuable as library research or classroom
attendance. Self-evaluation papers designed to discipline the
student in relating what has been learned to the student’s own
ministry are required throughout the various
programs.
Diploma Levels WLI Northeast
awards diplomas for Associate of Practical
Ministry, Bachelor of Practical Ministry, Master of Practical
Ministry, and Doctor of Practical Ministry. These do not
certify levels of academic attainment, but rather accumulation of
training units (TUs). No time limits are imposed on the attainment
of any of the diplomas. A diploma certifying
graduation from each level is awarded on the basis of accumulating
the required number of training units, plus a written
self-evaluation paper integrating the cumulative learning
experiences contributing to the diploma in question to the student’s
present and future ministry. Earning Training
Units Wagner Leadership Institute training
units can be earned through classroom courses, conferences,
seminars, ministry trips and events, independent study, prescribed
ministry involvement, short-term missions, video or audio
courses, internet courses, supervised apprenticeship, and other
designated learning experiences. Each training unit (TU) to be
applied toward diploma credits requires all forms and $25 per
TU be received by registrar before TU's will be
credited.
WLI Northeast Classroom Courses Classroom
courses are the major training component provided directly by WLI
Northeast. While the format will vary according to need, a typical
model is a 2 day course, taught by one or more of the top
practitioners in the field. Most are taught at the
WLI Northeast campus in Rochester, NY and some are convened at
other locations in the USA and in other parts of the world. Each 2
day course will typically provide 10 hours of classroom instruction,
plus approximately 300 pages of assigned reading and a
self-evaluation paper. These 2 day courses earn a student 4 TUs
for each class. They are not diploma-specific, meaning that any of
the courses can be used for any of the diploma levels. While persons
may choose to repeat specific courses, repeated courses will not
apply towards diploma fulfillment requirements. Students
may be given the ability to earn up to an additional 2 TU's per
course for completing a minimum of 300 pages of
recommended reading and submitting a WLI Reading Report
Form.
The Equipping
Center (TEC) "Monthly Focuses" taught on
Tuesday evenings at "The
Equipping Center" may be eligible for up to 2
Training Units towards WLI Northeast Diploma
fulfillment. Contact the WLI Northeast Dean or Registrar
about applying TEC classes for credit.
Home-Based
Study While WLI Northeast is not a correspondence
school, it is nevertheless recognized that many students may find it
very difficult to travel outside of their own community in order to
attend classroom courses or WLI Northeast events. To meet these
needs, a whole program of home-based courses has been developed.
WLI Northeast will have home based material of the
live WLI Northeast courses available to study at home.
Many students also desire to develop reading courses tailor-made to
their needs. Some projects directly associated with an individual’s
ministry deserve to earn training units. Authors may desire to
receive credit for writing books and articles. Mission trips and
prayer journeys are recognized learning experiences.
At the
same time, personal contact with both core faculty is important for
impartation and anointed ministry training. In order to balance
these two benefits, the following limits have been placed on the
amount of home-based study allowed in the different diploma
programs, pro rated if advanced standing is awarded:
Associate of Practical Ministry, up to 30% may be home-based
study. Bachelor of Practical Ministry, up to 50% may be
home-based study. Master of Practical Ministry, up to 50% may be
home-based study. Doctor of Practical Ministry, up to 50% may be
home-based study.
Admission Fees and Tuition A one-time $85
admission fee is charged for entrance into WLI Northeast. In
addition, tuition costs at $25 per training unit will be based on
the number of TUs required for each diploma (subtracting whatever
advanced standing may be granted). Tuition for the whole program may
be paid in advance (this entitles student to 20% discount) in
one lump sum or student may pay as you go, submitting the tuition
costs for every course or event in which you earn training units.
There is no minimum amount of time necessary to progress in a
diploma program or to pay tuition as you go. When the
tuition for the first diploma program is paid in advance, the
admission fee is waived. Click her to apply for admission to

the application process, the student will be assigned to the

will be given to age, ministry experience, previous earned degrees,
publications, leadership role, etc. Once assigned, advanced standing
in that particular diploma level may also be assigned by the
registrar for up to half the diploma requirements, in conformance
with WLI Northeast advanced standing

Auditing
Courses Persons not enrolled in a
WLI Northeast Diploma Program may audit any
WLI Northeast class for 1/2 price based on space availability.
To register to audit any WLI Northeast class please
contact the WLI Northeast Registrar.
Accreditation/Accountability Academic
accreditation is not desired by WLI or any of its campuses. We hold
membership in the Apostolic Council for Educational
Accountability (ACEA), which provides peer-level
evaluation on a regular basis through relationships with other
educators who share a similar paradigm for ministerial
training.
Warning/Disclosure Because of the non-academic
nature of WLI Northeast, there should be no expectation that
"training units" (they are not "academic credits") will be
recognized for transfer or for any sort of academic standing in
traditional academic institutions. Since WLI Northeast has
chosen to adopt an educational paradigm so different from
traditional seminaries and Bible schools, some may not be
comfortable with its position. This could mean that in certain
ecclesiastical circles, diplomas from WLI or WLI Northeast may
not be recognized as legitimate credentialing for ministry. Before
enrolling in WLI Northeast check with your ordaining body to be
sure that your diploma will be accepted.
